Info: The surviving members of the resistance face the First Order once again, and the legendary conflict between the Jedi and the Sith reaches its peak bringing the Skywalker saga to its end. Directed by: J.J. Abrams. genres: Adventure. J.J. Abrams. 2 hour 22 min. Actors: Daisy Ridley. It's the last movie. If they spend too much of it trying to retcon TLJ then it wont be good. Hopefully they just continue from where TLJ left off and finish on a strong note, which is what I am sure they will do. I watched it last night. Arguably the worst Star Wars film ever made. I'm not a hater and not a fan boy, I quite liked the Force Awakens.
Mind, I had very low expectations to begin with but they still managed to undercut them each and every way. It's worse than anything I could've ever imagined and I was expecting the worst. I knew all the major plot points before watching it and while the plot did sound kind of dumb on paper, watching and hearing it is the true revelation. It's cheesy, dumb and silly. Even the acting is mostly horrendous. Visually it's polished, but there isn't much else to say here except that the visuals are what you'd expect them to be. Well executed, but lacking vision. The sound is good, the music lacks in drama compared to the original score. It's all okay and production values were obviously top tier. Tonally it was all over the place. Every scene has some silly comment by some silly, wise-cracking never before seen character who disappears shortly after only to get some strange cameo right at the end. It reminded me of a Saturday morning cartoon, which is probably an apt description of the level of suspension of disbelief required to not pull your hair out watching this trite. Like a less funny version of Spaceballs. The characters and plot have not improved at all since the last two outings, on the contrary, it's all way worse. Nothing makes any sense at all any more. Oh look, we finally get to see the Knights of Ren! Yes, see them you will, but not much else. What, the bad guys have managed to build and hide the largest fleet of star destroyers ever seen (like a hundred of them) under a planets oceans surface? Without anyone knowing? How were they built, on a barren planet no less? All the while one of the main bad guys from the previous films is suddenly working as a spy for the rebellion, because of course he would (does not invalidate the previous films at all) but even with this high level spy still no one knew about the seven hundred super star destroyers? The bad guy is hidden and can only be found using a certain star map, which leads you into and a around the inside of a nebula (in space) only for it to lead you out of the nebula afterwards and to a planet. Why? What was the point of leading you around the inside of a nebula? Do you guys even know how space works? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. These are just a couple of points, there's stuff like this in almost every scene in the movie, it's corny, bad and simply stupid. Disney must think we're chimps. After all the criticism levied at the last film it's honestly a little mind boggling how this turned out the way it now is. It's a real shame, because contrary to what a lot of people say, the Star Wars universe offers plenty of material for interesting stories, just ask the Mandalorian or the Knights of the old Republic. Even Rogue One was way more interesting. Anyway, do yourself a favor and skip this and watch The Mandalorian instead. It deserves to be seen as it captures the original Star Wars look and feel almost to e Tee, it's just so much better all around, objectively. Thank me later. Shame on you Disney. I mean, you can't please everyone, for sure, but I think by now everyone can agree that the potential this series had, sorely wasted it was.

Rey even as a young child in that flashback scene, was too old to forget what her parents look like. I will do the Sequels REDONE sometime later. Like the Prequels, I am intending to be a script-doctor fixing the stories rather than doing a full rewrite... except for Episode 9. So far, these are my ideas. I was inspired by Timothy Mably's fix of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. These two are the best fixes of Disney Star Wars I have ever read. Episode VII - The Force Awakens: Crawl: The Empire has fallen, but decades of anarchy followed. The FIRST ORDER formed by legendary Rebel General Armitage Hux has risen in the New Republic with the promise to rebuild the galaxy. General Leia Organa leads a brave RESISTANCE. She is desperate to find her brother Luke and gain his help in restoring peace and justice to the galaxy. Leia has sent her most daring pilot on a secret mission to Tatooine, where an old ally has discovered a clue to Luke's whereabouts.... Change Lor San Tekka to Mon Mothma since his character became a Macguffin with no story relation afterward. First Order of the New Republic. Change the First Order from the remnants of the Empire suddenly in charge of the galaxy to the New Republic transforming into a tyrannical government after the Galactic Civil War. This would need a massive overhaul of aesthetic designs for the First Order. Change Jakku to Tatooine. Just a name change since these two planets are virtually identical. Phasma should be more prominent in the story. Moments like Phasma participating in the village fight, trying to stop Finn and Poe's escape, etc. Poe's jacket that later becomes Finn's has the Resistance insignia. This becomes important in TLJ. Make Armitage Hux as a Napoleonic Rebel general during the Galactic Civil War, who after the war rose to power and formed the First Order supported by the population, who wanted to purge the Imperial remnants that have been haunted the galaxy. The FO fearmongered about the Imperial sympathizers to gain power. Senator Leia Organa, who led a significant chunk of the Senate as a war hero, warned against the FO. The FO then exposed Leia's secret parentage that she is the daughter of Darth Vader. Leia's life as a senator is ruined and her democratic faction in the Senate crumbled. The FO used this opportunity to dissolute the Galactic Senate. Hux in the trilogy is the Supreme Leader of the FO, an old charismatic man and has a different dynamic with Kylo. Instead of First Order being human-centric just like the Empire, this First Order is very inclusive of alien races, similar to the New Galactic Empire from the EU. This non-human friendly policy is one of the reasons how they got so much supports to rise to power after the war. So, among republic troopers, who replace stormtroopers, there are occasional non-humans into the mix. Add this scene by u/actualjoe where Rey demonstrates her idolization of the Jedi and the heroes in the Original trilogy. Her knowing history puts her character as a representation of fans. This aspect of her character obviously becomes crucial in The Last Jedi. Kylo's lightsaber is blue until he kills Han when his lightsaber color changes to red. Make Finn more hesitant to kill troopers. I am aware this has been a Snoke fan-theory everyone talked about after the movie's release that it is hard to take it seriously anymore, but it is still a hundred times better than The Rise of Skywalker's 'Snoke is Palpatine's clone's clone'... but... fuck it, make Snoke Darth Plagueis. Remove the name Snoke, and call him Plagueis. Reveal his name in the late second act. Rather than Snoke seemingly in charge of the FO publically, Hux is contacting Plagueis in secret. Only Kylo Ren, whom Plagueis attached to Hux, and some other important FO officials know about this truth. Plagueis did not die entirely when Palpatine killed him but scarred and deformed. Remove R2-D2 suddenly waking up and giving out a puzzle piece, which was a Mcguffin. Instead, R2-D2 has been living with Luke ever since the destruction of the new Jedi Order. Luke's new Jedi institution was called "The New Jedi Order", not "The Jedi Academy. " The reasons for this change will be clearer as you read. With the holocam broadcasting to the galaxy, Hux gives a fierce speech against the Resistance that democracy has birthed the Galactic Empire and those who want to restore that system are Imperial sympathizers. They denounce Leia as the daughter of Darth Vader. This continues what the Canon novel, Bloodline, has set that her life as a senator was ruined when her parentage was revealed to the galaxy. Rey should not be able to understand what Chewbacca is saying. Remove Starkiller Base. Instead of rehashing A New Hope climax, borrow elements from the opening of The Empire Strikes Back. The FO's gigantic main command station generates the planetary shield that surrounds D'Qar, trapping the Resistance on the planet. Our heroes must destroy the command station to open up the shield. Carry the Starkiller Base plot over to the command station. It is important that Kylo does not know Rey's name in this movie. The Resistance flees to the rendezvous point in the Aquilae system, where they regroup. Episode VIII - The Last Jedi: Crawl: The RESISTANCE has evacuated, but Supreme Leader Hux deploys the merciless legions to chase after the brave heroes. Only General Leia Organa's band of fighters stand against the rising tyranny. They live in hope that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker will return and restore a spark of hope for the galaxy. As the FIRST ORDER of the New Republic speeds toward the Resistance rendezvous point in the Aquilae system, the fate of the galaxy rests on their escape.... The story continues right from where TFA left off. However, there is a 3-week time skip after the first act where we see Rey disappointed by bizarre Luke, Poe's failure, and Finn's awakening. Luke drops the lightsaber instead of throwing it. Jokes need to be toned down. Because of Poe's decision, Ackbar dies in the first battle like Paige did in the film. Play up Poe having fun blowing things up in the first space battle even more. This sets up Poe learning the themes of preservation, saving people, and how war is not a fun thing, and he has to learn these lessons. Kylo is called to Plagueis. Instead of Plagueis mocking Kylo for losing the fight, he tells something important about Rey's identity. "Who is her? " Plagueis tells her name is Rey and Kylo should remember. As Plagueis said, something in Kylo's memory rings. Kylo leaves the room and destroys his helmet as what Plagueis told about Rey startled him. For three weeks, Rey has been pestering Luke to train her. She sleeps in the cave, and walks out and kneels before Luke's house every time the suns rise. Chewbacca sees Rey drenched in rain as she is kneeling and waiting for Luke to take her. Chewie gets angry and breaks into the house. Luke has already sensed Han's death when it occurred through the Force, no need for Rey to tell him his death. He mourns for his death as the deleted scene shows. (In fact, implement most of the deleted scenes as they add so much to the story) The Ahch-To part goes pretty much similarly except Luke seems to aware of who Rey is. There should be no other living creature on Ahch-To. Remove the weird slow chase plot between the Resistance fleet and the FO fleet. For three weeks, the Resistance fleet has been hiding in interstellar gas and dust, sending out a rescue signal, but resources like air are running out. Nearby systems are fully in the FO's grip, refusing to open to the Resistance as they are afraid of the FO's retaliation. PTSD catches on Finn and he suffers from the guilt that he abandoned and killed his friends on the First Order. His arc is to overcome this guilt and fully embrace a Rebel. Pair Finn with Poe. After Poe loses much of his squadron and his X-Wing in the first battle, the Resistance fleet receives a signal from General Madine from Return of the Jedi, who now leads the other faction of the Resistance. Telling Leia's fleet to regroup on Corellia. Leia senses it is too dangerous and suspicious. Poe thinks this is the best chance for the Resistance. So Leia, rather than sending the entire fleet to regroup, decides to confirm first if this signal is genuine by sending Poe and Finn there. However, Leia sees Poe's arrogance and assigns Finn in charge of the mission. Poe is under command of Finn. Poe gets frustrated but accepts it. Leia warns Poe and Finn to not to spill beans too easily. Finn says he understands it. Finn and Poe reach Corellia. In their search of General Madine, Poe tries to micromanage Finn, unable to accept Finn as a leader. Their friendship starts to crack. Finn has to learn to be a leader while Poe has to learn to compromise and stop being full of himself. Finn suffers through PTSD and emotional torments. They witness the weapon factory, manufacturing weapons for the First Order, and how the war profiteers benefit from the war. Many workers are comprised of children, oppressed and exploited. Finn tells Poe the anti-war speech Rose gave in the movie and the need for saving people. They meet General Madine. Madine has been building the sizable Resistance military ready to rescue Leia's fleet with the support from the anti-First Order group like the Senators, politicians, etc. Poe is impressed and, as a hotheaded fighter he is, he tells where Leia's fleet is in a passing comment. However, Finn surveys Madine's Resistance soldiers and finds a familiar face among them. "FN-9603? " It is one of Finn's friends during his Republic trooper years, who trained together. Finn realizes the terrible implication and immediately shouts for Poe, warning him the whole thing is a trap. One of the
Star wars 3a tian xing zhe de jue qi worksheet. Yeah. I'm having a hard time finding a reason to care. Disney+ may currently be missing a couple of Star Wars films, but all of them including the just-released Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker should be on the streaming service by summer 2020. Currently, Disney+ is missing The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker and the prequel Solo: A Star Wars Story. The first of these is one Disney+ very soon, due to move from Netflix to Disney+ on December 26. There is then a long gap before the latter two will be streaming. Solo is likely to be the first, and is confirmed to drop of Disney+ on July 9, 2020. Around the same time, however, we should also get Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on streaming services. Though an exact Disney+ release date for the movie has not been confirmed, the streaming service follows the same release schedule that Disney films had when they were streaming on Netflix rather than the new streamer. Generally speaking, all Disney films, which include the Marvel films and those in the Star Wars universe, first get a roughly 90-day cinematic release, which for The Rise of Skywalker began on December 19 and is likely to come to a close at the end of March. A few weeks later, the ninth movie in the Star Wars saga will come to DVD, BluRay and other home entertainment platforms. Films then come to Disney+ up to four months after that physical media release, meaning that we should get the movie on the streamer at some point in August 2020. "Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker" is likely to be on Disney+ by summer 2020 Disney We also get an idea of the timeline between cinematic release and the Disney+ release date from the schedule that The Last Jedi took to go from cinemas to Netflix. The movie was first released on December 14, 2017, followed by a DVD release on April 9. The movie then came to Netflix at the end of June, just under three months after its physical release. As such, we should expect Rise of Skywalker on Disney+ at any point from late June to early August, with the release date likely to be confirmed at some point in 2020. Although there is no confirmation yet, it may be that Disney aims to release The Rise of Skywalker and Solo together, completing their Star Wars catalog on a single day. Newsweek has contacted Disney+ for clarification about when we might expect The Rise of Skywalker to come to Disney+ and we will update this article when we get a response. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is streaming now on Disney+.

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker needed to be two movies long to truly do the story and... [+] characters justice. Credit: Disney / LucasFilm Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker has been a controversial film, to say the least. Almost?if not more so?than the controversial The Last Jedi. There are many reasons for this, but one of the big ones is just how rushed the first act feels. You get a whole lot of plot in a very short span of time?story that could have been spread out if there were only more time. It often feels like director JJ Abrams had two movies he wanted to make, but because the previous film was written and directed by Rian Johnson, he had to take both those movies and cram them into one. I was still a big fan of The Rise Of Skywalker. I found the critical reception?it’s still Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes? quite baffling, a reactionary response to some of the changes ( or fixes) Abrams made after The Last Jedi. Indeed, despite the rushed first act, and despite other quibbles like the weird sidelining of Rose Tico, I thought this was the most emotionally powerful film in the new trilogy. Many complained about it having too much fan service, but I loved that about the movie. It wasn’t as fun as The Force Awakens or as subversive as The Last Jedi (both films I enjoyed) but it had so many great Star Wars moments. I just wish it had been two movies instead of one. It very badly needed more time to get to where it was going, and there’s no denying that Rise felt rushed. Even co-writer Chris Terrio wishes that it had been two films, telling Awards Daily: “I wish we could have done that. There is a lot of plot in the movie, and as a writer, you always want scenes to let the plot breathe more. If there were a way of doing it, splitting it would have been my dream. We could have written these characters forever. There was so much backstory that had to be left by the wayside. I wish that we could have that, but George always said it was nine movies. That was the natural size of the saga, and so, other than a few initial discussions, we never really advanced that conversation. Of course, as a writer, it breaks your heart to leave stuff on the table that you think would have given the story more depth and nuance and to give the characters more to do. Speaking for myself and not on the part of the studio, I do wish there could have been a “Part 1” and a “Part 2. ”” I understand respecting George Lucas’s vision to some degree. I would understand it more had he not so badly botched his own original Star Wars trilogy with bad CGI additions. Disney is respecting his desire not to release the original, untouched trilogy despite the clamoring of fans, and frankly I find that absurd. If you sell your company and its properties to the tune of $4 billion, you shouldn’t attach many strings. Kylo Ren Lucas wanted the Skywalker Saga to be nine films. If he’d had it his way, the third trilogy would have been all about Midichlorians: “[The next three Star Wars films] were going to get into a microbiotic world. But there’s this world of creatures that operate differently than we do. I call them the Whills. And the Whills are the ones who actually control the universe. They feed off the Force… If I’d held onto the company I could have done it, and then it would have been done. Of course, a lot of the fans would have hated it, just like they did Phantom Menace and everything, but at least the whole story from beginning to end would be told. ” That’s from the companion book to James Cameron’s Story of Science Fiction series. Lucas continues: “Back in the day, I used to say ultimately what this means is we were just cars, vehicles for the Whills to travel around in…’re vessels for them. And the conduit is the midichlorians. The midichlorians are the ones that communicate with the Whills. The Whills, in a general sense, they are the Force… All the way back to?with the Force and the Jedi and everything?the whole concept of how things happen was laid out completely from [the beginning] to the end. But I never got to finish. I never got to tell people about it. ” In other words, as angry as fans may be about the new trilogy it could have been so much worse. If Lucas had his way, everything good and fun and wonderful about the original Star Wars movies would be lost. The joyless prequel trilogy would look like a work of art compared to this nonsense about the Whills. It’s as if Lucas doesn’t?and never really did?understand what fans actually liked about these movies. His plan from the prequels onward, and certainly into the sequel trilogy, would have been to essentially take all the myth and spirituality out of Star Wars. To demystify it and get into the science of the Force rather than its magic, to transform a space opera into science fiction. The Rise Of Skywalker Abrams, for all the issues with his two entries in the sequel trilogy, seems to understand it very well. He just wasn’t able to quite execute his vision in the span of two films. I don’t blame Johnson for this either. The Last Jedi had some issues, but I very much enjoyed his handling of Luke, Kylo Ren and Rey and don’t actually think that The Rise Of Skywalker contradicts any of that. But it can come off that way because it feels rushed. Some accused Johnson of trying to subvert and demystify Star Wars, but at least his version maintains, in the end, the heroism of Luke Skywalker and the mystery of the Force. It isn’t reason enough to cap the saga at nine movies, simply because Lucas always envisioned it that way. Plans change as stories evolve. Sure, in the beginning it was going to be nine movies (well not the very beginning, but as soon as it was a hit and became more than a single outing). In the beginning, in the first drafts for the first Star Wars film, Han Solo was a green alien and Luke Skywalker was a middle-aged general. Plans changed. Other writers and collaborators and directors and artists and special effects people helped shape the original trilogy. It would not have been the same without people like Lawrence Kasdan on board. If The Rise Of Skywalker had been two movies, we could have spent one discovering the return of Palpatine, and gone into more depth about the rise of the First Order and the deception of Snoke. We could have spent more time with the Knights of Ren and Kylo Ren’s search for the ghoulish Emperor. Ren and Rey’s relationship could have been developed even further. Better yet, the relationships between Finn, Poe, Rey and other characters like Rose Tico, the droids and so forth could have all deepened. Perhaps the greatest flaw of the new trilogy is its lack of relationship development between its core cast. Spending time to flesh that out and deepen those relationships is more important than respecting some arbitrary number of films dreamed up by George Lucas. Rey The second film could have focused on the bulk of the plot from Rise of Skywalker. With our characters now more firmly established, a new villain discovered by the end of the movie, and the stakes set, it could have taken its time. More hints and foreshadowing about Rey’s true parentage could have been established, with the final reveal taking place either at the end of the ninth film (a la Empire Strikes Back) or in the final installment. Sometimes splitting a film into two parts can come off as a greedy, a cash grab by studios desperate to capitalize on a valuable franchise. ( The Hobbit was split into three films entirely because of greed as far as I’m concerned). But in this case it would have simply been smart film-making and the wiser storytelling choice. Fans and critics alike would almost certainly have responded better to the story and nobody, except perhaps George Lucas, would have cared that another movie was added to the Skywalker Saga. If we all had one more to look forward to in 2021, I’d shed no tears. Alas, here we are. I still loved The Rise Of Skywalker and really enjoyed the new trilogy, warts and all. But I’m not blind to its shortcomings. Perhaps simply establishing all of this from the beginning and having a unified direction and story would have avoided all these problems and made nine films just right. But that wasn’t the case, and clearly wasn’t the case by the time production began on Episode IX. Too bad they didn’t just take a gamble and give us an Episode X to wrap things up. P. S. Perhaps the rumored “Abrams Cut” of the film resolves some of these issues, but I’m still not at all convinced of its veracity. Nor am I convinced that a three hour Star Wars movie is a great idea. Again, two two-ish hour movies would be much better.
