This movie was great. The soundtrack, the acting, the effects, it was all well done (the soundtrack especially. I like how hopeless it all seemed, pure cosmicism. After a meteorite lands in the front yard of their farm, Nathan Gardner (Cage) and his Wife (Richardson) Wiccan Daughter (Arthur) oldest Son (Meyer) and youngest Son (Hilliard) find themselves battling a mutant extraterrestrial organism, though this organism seems to like turning everything pink and welding living creatures together rather than using a discrete, intelligent method of world domination. The first poor creatures on the farm that get zapped by the alien Organism are the Alpaca's, turning them into a hairless joined together mass of pink flesh, after going out to investigate Nathan's wife (Richardson) and youngest son (Hilliard) also get zapped by the alien pink beam and also end up as a hairless joined together mass of pink flesh, surprisingly Nathan doesn't seem too bothered by this and thinks they will be OK, and can't understand why they are making groaning noises. Nathan (Cage) then decides to get in the car and go and get help, unfortunately it won't start because the battery has become drained (strangely no other vehicle or way of charging the battery is available on the farm) This is the point where Cage gives one of his most over the top performances, probably surpassing his Wicker man performance. Nathan (Cage) then decides to take his anger out on the mutant Alpaca's by shooting them several times, unfortunately during this he becomes engulfed by a pink Alpaca fart that ends up poisoning him causing him to lose his sanity (so not much of a change really) To cut a long story short the hero of the story local hydrologist Ward Phillips (Elliot Knight) who we saw talking to Nathan's daughter Lavinia at the beginning, turns up with the Sheriff (the poor Sheriff doesn't last long) to save the day, believing that the family's "illness" is caused by contaminated water, but soon finds to his Horror that it is something far more sinister, at first he tries to chat to Lavinia by the well, but finds out she has a bad case of "Pink eye" or pink eyes) at this point and he ends up getting zapped,when she touches him, but rather than end up as a mound of hairless pink flesh his mind is impregnated with some horrifying images and the "Color" shoots out of the Well and into the sky, Ward ends up hiding in the cellar and climbs out the next morning as the soul survivor and sees a type of ash everywhere and the "Color" nowhere in sight. Lessons I learnt from this Movie: (1) stay well away from any Meteorites that land in your Garden. (2) Never breath in a gassy pink Alpaca fart. (3) Never take a Nicolas Cage performance seriously again.

I am so unreasonably angry that this movie even exists. The entire reason the original story (and the majority of lovecraft's work) exists is because Hippo Potamus Lovecraft was terrified of literally everything. Somebody tried to explain the electromagnetic spectrum to him, he didn't fully understand it, and like all things he didn't fully understand, he was instantly filled with existential terror, even though something completely normal that literally no one else on the planet is scared of except for his xenophobic ass. He then decided to write a story about living color. A color that is alive, and can somehow still be seen by the people that affects it even though it's nowhere on the visual spectrum of light. This is what happens when you don't have the constitution for math. I hate HP Lovecraft so much. ??????.

I n the bonkers 2018 thriller Mandy, Nicolas Cage gave one of his Cage-iest performances yet, face splattered in blood as he pursued a cult leader who’d tortured his girlfriend. If you thought that was trippy, wait till you see Color Out of Space, in which Cage’s mug is once again sprayed with blood... alpaca blood. Adapted from a story by HP Lovecraft, this is a freaky-deaky, retro-cosmic science-fiction horror about a meteor that slams into Earth unleashing an extraterrestrial organism. The whole thing looks as if it was dreamed up under the influence of a quality batch of LSD. I laughed out loud at the hokiest bits. But I’ve got to admit I was sucked in and genuinely scared, too. The director is Richard Stanley, who hasn’t made a feature film since he got fired from The Island of Dr Moreau (1996). Cage plays Nathan Gardner, an artist who moves with his wife ( Joely Richardson) and three kids back to the farm where he grew up, to raise alpacas. In a very Cage-y moment he turns dreamy-eyed while milking: “You’ve got to warm the boob. ” When a meteor lands in their front garden, the family witness flashes of a colour never before seen by the human eye (actually, purple). After the meteor comes the terror. Lush mutant flowers begin to grow in the garden; the dog won’t stop whimpering; everyone gets a bit shouty. Then things get gobsmackingly, gaggingly repulsive. To be fair, Cage holds it in for the first hour, giving us his version of liberal, caring dad. When he does finally does let rip, he doesn’t go all-out ragey-Cagey, but does something creepier: rambling in a Trumpishly high-pitched, peevish voice. It’s a film with a fair few ludicrously funny bits, yet something endearing in how unashamedly earnestly it’s played straight, not for laughs. Love it or loathe it, Stanley is trying to do something distinctively his own after all those years in the cold. His movie perhaps has the makings of a cult classic. ? Color Out of Space is released in the UK on 28 February.
