犬の十戒

１．My life is likely to last ten to fifteen years.Any separation from you will be painful for me.Remember that before you buy me.

私の一生は10年から15年くらいしかありません。 あなたから少しでも離れる事は私には辛い事となるでしょう。私を飼う前にその事をどうか心に留めておいてください。

２．Give me time to understand what you want of me.

あなたが私に望んでいるのか理解するまで時間をください。

３．Place your trust in me-it's crucial to my Well-being.

私の幸せで重要な事はあなたからの信頼なのです。

４．Don't be angry at me for lang and don't loｃk me up as punishment. You have your work, your entertainment and your friends. I have only you.

私を長時間怒ったり、罰として閉じ込めたりしないで下さい。あなたには仕事や楽しみがあり、友人もいる。でも私にはあなたしかいないのです。

５．Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your ｖoice when its speaking to me.

時々私に話しかけて下さい。あなたに話しかけられた時、たとえ私があなたの言葉が理解できなくても、あなたの声はわかっています。

６．Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.

あなたがどのように私を扱ったか、私は絶対に忘れないという事に気づいてください。

７．Remember before you hit me that I have teeth that could easily crush the bones of your hand but that I choose not to bite you.

私はあなたの手の骨を簡単に噛み砕く事が出来る歯があっても、私はあなたを噛まないと決めている事を私を叩く前に思い出してください。

８．Before you scold me for being uncooperative,obstinate or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. perhaps I'm not getting the right food, or I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart is getting old and weak.

言う事を聞かないとか、頑固とか怠け者であると私をしかる前に、なぜ私がこうしたのかを考えてみてください。たぶんちゃんと食餌をもらえなかったり、長時間炎天下に放置されたり、年老いて弱ってるのでしょう。

９．Take care of me when I get old; you, too,will grow old.

私が年老いても世話をしてください。あなたもまた同じように年をとるのです。

１０．Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, I can't bear to watch it, or,let it happen in my absence. Everything is easier for me if you are there. Remember,I love you.

どんな事があっても私と一緒にいてください。けっして「世話が出来ないから」とか「私が居なくなっても許してね」なんて言わないでください。あなたがいてくれるなら私はどんなことでも耐えられます。忘れないで、私があなたを愛している事を。
