Besnilo full movie online. I don't know where the Soska sisters get their rep. Are people afraid, in this day and age to be honest in criticism of them because they're women? Their first movie American Mary was overrated, but way better than this trash pile of a movie. Overlong, boring and with some horrible acting - where did they get that doctor? If it were the real world, I'd say Nazis are us, he's so obviously a tool. The movie meanders about at a leisurely pace as if the editor or the directors were taking the day off. If one has the guts to remake a DAVID CRONENBURG, the master of body horror, film they have to go way better than this. Perhaps one day, studios and backers will say no to remakes, which are basically lazy films, hopefully that day is soon.

Entropy is the word scientists use for how things fall apart and the center cannot hold. It means that the arc of existence, from the Big Bang to the end of time, is one of constant decay and decline. For a while, living things and their constructs may fight against that entropic tide but it eventually washes us all away. Entropy can be hard to see in life because most of us get awfully good at denial, at forgetting the face in the mirror looks a lot different today than it did years ago. As cinema freezes a moment in time, however, it can illustrate decay and decline in a way that’s hard to deny. It may be one of the only noble purposes in remaking a movie. Looking at an original film and then what people do with the same concept and story decades later is like seeing yourself in the mirror aging all those years in an instant. Sometimes you see you’ve gotten better with age. Usually not, though. This edition of KIMT’s Weekend Remake Throwdown is a study in entropy and how the starkness of it peaks through all the fancy tricks we use to try and hide it. It compares an early work of one of the most notable filmmakers of his era with a remake two generations later about as far from notable as one can get. It’s “Rabid” (1977) vs. “Rabid” (2019) in a battle which proves even fear fades away. "Damn it! I told him his douche quotient wasn't high enough to withstand contact with AXE Body Spray! " “Rabid” (1977) was written and directed by David Cronenberg, a name which doesn’t mean much today outside of art house theaters. There was a time, however, when “David Cronenberg” was a name that anyone who cared anything about movies knew. He was one of THOSE filmmakers but not because of any commercial success or popularity. Cronenberg was so compellingly weird that they had to invent a phrase to describe his movies. They called them “body horror” and, like George A. Romero before him, Cronenberg spawned his own little sub-genre of motion pictures, one that persists long after his creative impulse has moved on. “Rabid” (1977) tells the story of Rose (Marilyn Chambers) and her ludicrously named boyfriend, Hart Read (Frank Moore). Yes, his name was Hart Read. As they rode a motorcycle one day near the plastic surgery clinic of Dr. Dan Keloid (Howard Ryshpan), Rose and Hart crash. Hart survives largely unscathed but Rose is trapped under the bike as it burns and is critically injured. Rushing her to his clinic, Dr. Keloid performs experimental skin graft surgery on Rose to save her life. It does save her but the end result isn’t so great for the lives of others. Rose emerges from a coma with an insatiable thirst for blood and a bizarre stinger under her left armpit to drain it from her victims. The process also infects them with a kind of super-rabies and turns them into violent psychos. As Rose hitchhikes to Montreal, spreading madness and death in her wake, Hart teams up with Dr. Keloid’s business partner (Joe Silver) to look for her. The two of them get caught up in the chaos created by the spreading infection while Rose makes it to Montreal and stays with her friend Mindy (Susan Roman) while continuing to prowl the streets for sustenance. It took them 37 takes to get this scene right because Marilyn kept flashing back to all her other movies where she was in a hot tub with another woman. Martial law is declared in Montreal with the infected being shot on sight. Hart eventually makes it to Mindy’s apartment to see Rose feeding on her friend. In denial about being a “Typhoid Mary, ” Rose flees from Hart and locks herself in a room with a man she has just fed on to prove to herself she’s not responsible for all this death…which does not work out well for her at all. “Rabid” (1977) is not a great motion picture. It’s probably only a good motion picture when compared to most other low-budget horror flicks that used to play at drive-in theaters where the young patrons were more concerned with necking than with what was happening on screen. There are brief flashes and an amorphous sense of Cronenberg’s considerable talent throughout “Rabid” (1977) but it is at best a draw between that and the general suckiness of the movie. The characters are poorly written, barely more than ambulatory nails waiting for The Almighty Plot Hammer to pound them into the narrative ground. The performances of the actors aren’t any better with Frank Moore being particularly bad. He spends most of the film speaking his lines like he’s clinically depressed then plays the last few scenes like Cronenberg stuck a syringe full of adrenaline into his heart before each one. Marilyn Chambers, who was an actual porn star both before and after getting this role, is pretty and is repeatedly topless throughout the film for no good reason but has as much screen presence as the average Hooters waitress. She probably has less dialog in “Rabid” (1977) than in most of her X-rated films, so her limited ability to emote isn’t that much of a problem. "What is this 'acting' thing of which you speak? Is it something they do in Quebec? " The plot is a little better. Cronenberg does quite a good job showing the viewer the growing danger and paranoia produced by the film’s medical crisis and he keeps you from wondering too much about how quickly Rose adjusts to being a vampire with an armpit fang. But Hart being close friends with Dr. Keloid’s business partner feels like something Cronenberg just pulled out of his butt in the first draft of the script to move the story along. The directorial eye Cronenberg shows off is easily the best part of the movie. It’s not fully formed or sharpened to a point but there’s enough of an edgy, off-kilter vision to knock the straight-laced moviegoers of the 1970s back on their heels. “Rabid” (1977) is the sort of thing that makes you think the filmmaker could be very special someday, just not today. If Cronenberg hadn’t gone on to fulfill that promise with some legitimately great and even freakier motion pictures, I’m not sure anyone would have remembered “Rabid” enough to remake it. But they did, which wound up being a huge waste of time for everyone who made “Rabid” (2019) and anyone unfortunate enough to watch it. And THAT'S why you don't eat truck stop sushi. This remake is a really bad film made all the more tragic because it starts out much better than the original ever was. Co-directors and co-screenwriters Jen and Sylvia Soska reimagine Rose (Laura Vandervoort) as an ugly duckling at a fashion company who dreams of doing more than just cutting and sewing the designs of others. Besides a definable character and personality, the Soska Sisters even give Rose an honest-to-goodness backstory of family tragedy to explain who she is and her scarred appearance. 2019 Rose is better written than ANYTHING in the 1977 original. Rose also has a best friend, Chelsea (Hanneke Talbot), who is a resident model at the fashion company and their relationship is better written than ANYTHING in the 1977 original. But when Rose finds out that Chelsea paid a hunky photographer (Benjamin Hollingsworth) to take her out on a date, Rose speeds off on her scooter and gets into an accident which horribly disfigures her. Rose loses her job and moves in with Chelsea, wallowing in despair, until she gets a miracle treatment at the clinic of Dr. William Burroughs (Ted Atherton) which not only fixes her wounds but turns her into a smoking hottie. Oh, and she also is compelled to drink blood to survive. And that’s where this movie goes off the rails, over the cliff, down the side of a mountain, crashes on the rocks, and explodes into giant fireball. No. Remaking a Cronenberg flick does not somehow become less souless if you self-awarely include a ripoff of another Cronenberg flick. That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. The last half of “Rabid” (2019) is so much worse than its very modest predecessor that it’s almost like the Soska Sisters are pulling a prank, as if they’re trying to see how many Golden Raspberry awards they can win. To start with, this movie isn’t scary at all. The original might be pretty tame by 2019 standards but you can conceive how 1977 audiences would have gotten a few good nightmares out of it. The remake is so thoroughly non-frightening you could almost show it during Sunday School. There’s barely any gore in this flick and what gore it has is so badly designed and executed that it is more comedic than horrific. When 2019 Rose has something shoot out of her armpit, it looks like a cross between a dildo and a whacky, arm-flailing, inflatable tube man. The plot quickly descends into apparently unintentional self-parody. As Rose undergoes supposedly disturbing physical changes and thinks she’s hallucinating about murdering people AND while the city is consumed by a disease outbreak turning people into mindless savages, “Rabid” 2019 suddenly remembers Rose’s dream of showing off her own design at a fashion show and demands the viewer care about such frivolous nonsense. And after completely vanishing from the middle of the film, Chelsea returns to join in on the girl power garbage. Then we get to the ending, good grief, where we find out Dr. Burroughs is a genuine, scenery-chewing mad scientist who experimented on Rose as part of his quest for immortality. Now as I mentioned earlier, the original isn’t exactly a masterpiece of screenwriting. But the idea that 1977 Rose’s condition is due to science gone wrong, that after spreading the infection at the clinic Rose escapes, and in shock and denial over her grot

Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2019 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase Maybe back in the day this was a revolutionary film for the genre, but nowadays its just your standard zombie movie. Someone get's infected first then they infect someone else and from there It all goes to hell, typical zombie movie stuff. I believe the film drags on for too long and in the end doesn't have much of a payoff. Also it get's very repetitive, Rose(The main character) pretty much seduces or attracts a dude and then spikes them with her armpit needle or whatever it is. This happens like 4 or 5 times and by the third time I was sick of it. The romance here is weak, therefore it makes it hard for me to care about John(I think that's the male leads name) finding Rose. I liked the zombie designs however, and the best parts of the movie were with them. I probably would have enjoyed it more if it was centered around the zombies rather than Rose. Rose is a beautiful woman yes but that can only take her character so far, she is not a very interesting character aside from that, not many of the characters in here are. I really was hoping I would love this film but it just was not for me I guess. On to the next Cronenberg film. Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2016 Format: Prime Video Verified Purchase Out of all of David Cronenberg's film's this one is my most favorite. Although it is one of his earlier film's with a smaller budget, it is a treat for horror fan's. Marilyn Chambers first feature film too. Her character gets a parasitic virus of epic proportions that is transferred to others and rapidly spreads throughout Canada unlike anything ever spread. The people affected turn into ravenous murdering zombie like creatures that make things so much more worse. A gem among horror films that really should be viewed by fans that love films that go bump in the night. Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2014 Format: DVD Verified Purchase Introductory note: I'm pretty sure there's a legal requirement to refer to the star of this film as "porn star Marilyn Chambers"; there may have been a statute of limitations on mentioning "star of Behind the Green Door and Insatiable", some time after the last VHS copies disappeared from circulation. Ms Chambers acts as well as anyone in this low budget contagion-horror, and has at least three topless scenes. So that's that out of the way. Rose (Chambers) suffers burns in a motorcycle accident. She is rushed to the handily nearby private plastic surgery hospital, the Keloid Clinic (named after lead surgeon Dr Keloid, not because they specialise in reducing unsightly scars). She has skin grafts which are subject to some kind of irradiation, which gives the grafts a stem cell-like ability to adapt to the location to which they're grafted (or something), the key facts being that this is an experimental procedure which carries a risk of "tumours". The unexpected side effect Rose suffers is to grow a little vagina under her left armpit, from which a little penis with a spike emerges, with which she is compelled to drain human blood for nutrition; ordinary food causes her to vomit. The victims suffer amnesia, and within a few hours start to bleed and froth at the mouth and start biting the nearest person, i. e. they become zombies, until they expire altogether a few hours later again. Those who are bitten carry the contagion, and so on. The DVD had the grainy, washed-out quality of cheap film stock transferred onto VHS and then digitised, which adds its own kind of atmosphere. Performances were generally wooden, with Ms Chambers, her boyfriend and her best friend slightly better than the others. Despite the rockingly trashy premise, the film was slow to get going, and until about the half way mark, I wondered if an exploitation film starring a porn actress who attacked her victims with a little spiky penis was somehow only going to offer conceptual pleasures. Escape velocity was eventually achieved, and the latter half of Rabid had both some genuinely creepy and suspenseful scenes, as when one of the hospital employees returns home to find his infant missing and bloodstains in the nursery, and crowd-pleasing set pieces, including a zombie attack on a subway train, and another at a shopping mall after the imposition of martial law, where a Santa gets caught in the crossfire. Also, there's a mild rape-revenge theme (it's an exploitation film thematic bonanza), where one actual attempted rapist in a cow shed (just after Rose discovers that the blood of non-human mammals just won't do) and two creeps in a (porno) cinema and a mall get what's coming to them. Rose's boyfriend drives through Montreal trying to find her, and his car is attacked by a zombie. An army sniper stationed on a garbage truck shoots the frothing assailant off the front of the car, and two men in Hazmat suits remove the body and spray the car windscreen with some sterilising fluid, in what my wife identified as a tribute to Canada's universal health care system. Come for the trash, stay for the technical accomplishment and the lesson in film history. Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2017 Format: Blu-ray Verified Purchase David Cronenberg's second horror film is a visual feast. Marilyn Chambers, in her first non porn film, plays a woman who infects people with rabies with a phallic like protrusion comingbout of her underarms. Gory, sick and fascinating Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2013 Format: DVD Verified Purchase Though David Cronenberg already had a minor hit horror feature under his belt with SHIVERS (aka THEY CAME FROM WITHIN), RABID is the first "true Cronenberg movie" for me (i. e., the first that didn't look like a student film). The story of beautiful young Rose (Seventies porn icon Marilyn Chambers), having gotten disfigured in a motorcycle accident and used as a guinea pig in an experimental form of reconstructive surgery which leaves her with a penile "stinger" under her armpit which drains blood from another's body, and unbeknownst to her the stinger also injects her victims with a fast-acting, virulent strain of rabies. She escapes from the clinic that operated on her (leaving a trail of infected or dead people in her wake - the powerful cover image is of the woman she assaulted in the clinic's jacuzzi, who she stuck in a walk-in freezer after drowning) and makes it to her home town of Montreal, as the authorities attempt to track down the source of the "super-rabies" so they can contain the plague Rose is unwittingly causing.... Despite a tight budget (a half-million dollars Canadian, or about double what your average Roger Corman cheapie cost back then), Cronenberg succeeds in adroitly staging an apocalyptic epidemic in Quebec province. He's aided immensely by Chambers, who turns in a much stronger performance than you might expect as a Nice Pretty Girl (the kind you want to ask out, or take care of if she's in trouble) turned reluctant predator - while she's not in the league of Sissy Spacek (the director's first choice for the role, turned down by the producers because Chambers was better-known at the time! ), she still does a good job with the part. This DVD, digitally remastered and released by Canadian distributor Somerville House, comes with a Commentary track by Cronenberg, as well as a half-hour interview (clearly part of a larger career retrospective, but still worth watching). Would that Cronenberg's other, better known horror movies THE BROOD and SCANNERS had this much attention paid to them! Top international reviews 4. 0 out of 5 stars FIRST TIME ON BLU RAY. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 17, 2015 Verified Purchase After a motorcycle crash, Rose, played by Marilyn Chambers, riding pillion, is taken to a nearby clinic, which is doing research in plastic surgery. After an operation for a skin graft, she develops a thirst for blood. Blood being her only food. One by one, she feeds off her victims who in turn develops rabies, and goes on to infect others, resulting in a widespread epidemic. There have been some negative reviews about other versions of this film. This is a brand new transfer, and is presented on blu ray for the first time. The colour grading has been redone, and the review on criticizes the colours in some scenes. I did not find any major problems with any of the colours in any scenes. There is some grain evident in the transfer particularly at the beginning, but I suspect that this is how it looked when originally released to cinemas, so no problem. Arrow have provided a reversible sleeve, which has the artwork for the original poster. (Which is better than the new commissioned artwork). This version also comes with a dvd copy. Picture Quality is good, with natural flesh tones, from a clean print. The original aspect ratio of this film is 1. 85:1. This blu ray transfer is in 1. 78:1, which is the equivalent to a 16x9 tv screen, and an almost identical ratio to 1. 85:1 so there is almost no picture loss, if any. The sound is in the original mono. This is the best this film is ever going to look, so if you are a fan of David Cronenburg, or just want this film, buy this version.
