It is at once a pleasing and buoyant inspirational story, and a realistic depiction of the brutal aftermath of acid attacks. The movie is based on the life of the activist Laxmi Agarwal, who was burned with acid in New Delhi 2005, and has since become an advocate for banning the sale of acid in India. Details like names and ages have been changed, but the substance of Agarwal’s story remains the same. Deepika Padukone plays Malti, a young woman who is assaulted by a family friend, after she rejects his romantic advances. In flashbacks, she recalls the crime and her arduous recovery; in the present, she takes a job helping other survivors and, with a team of female lawyers, tries to change Indian law to reflect the seriousness of the violence committed against her. The director Meghna Gulzar takes a light approach to this heavy subject, using familiar stylistic flourishes to soften the story. Though there are no staged musical numbers, the score includes several songs, with the first introduced in the immediate aftermath of the attack on Malti. The music draws the story into the heightened, emotionally manageable space of melodrama, an approach that remains consistent throughout. There are scenes of anguish, but the film doesn’t make a spectacle of pain. And as Malti, Padukone is by turns inquisitive, watchful and serene but never maudlin. The visual effects used to represent Malti’s burns are a rather extraordinary mix of makeup and prosthetics, which subtly change as she receives treatments. Gulzar has also cast real survivors of acid assaults and the camera rests just as plainly on their faces as it does upon Malti’s. Gulzar emphasizes the dignity of survivors and the joy that exists even after devastating injury. Many of the most moving scenes feature Malti and real survivors playing and fantasizing about future treatments, their faces lit up not in pain but in laughter. Chhapaak Not rated. I want to express the truth. Ye film actors ko koi farak Nahi padta, ki kispr attack hua ya Nahi. Inhe bs ek content chiye Jo inhe paisa kama kar de. Bekar mai inhe hero mat banao. Inko ghanta farak Nahi padta Bollywood wale bs paisa kamana chahte hai. Level 1 Kangana speaking Hindi sounds good and genuine - sick of the star kids whose mangled Hindi (with a convent school accent meaning they have no idea of where to put the emphasis) sounds false. Also kudos for promoting a competitor's film - whatever be the background, I do not remember one star promoting another is such a straightforward manner before. She does have a personal angle in that her sister is a victim which makes all the more poignant and real. level 2 Honestly her Hindi sounds so sweet to my ears! I literally repeated it just for that haha Especially as a PIO since I never really hear how it sounds or is supposed to sound (always hear that weird urdu mix in bollywood too). Why is this not okay? And Kangana has a legitimate reason too. We all know what her sister went through. She didn’t make it up. Her sister even congratulated Meghna and Deepika when their movie was announced last year. She’s hitting two birds with one stone. Actually, three. Acid attacks are a reality even today all across the country, from big cities to small towns. But that doesn't mean Kangana had to do this or thank Deepika. She could have easily made a vague statement of acid attack without mentioning Deepika. I just thought it was nice of her level 2 Kangana was also promoting her movie as well and why not? As an actor she has all rights to promote her movie on any platform through any medium. And Kangana meant every word she spoke! In fact DP should thank her for being genuine and appreciating the entire team of Chhapak! level 2 Rangoli has already slammed DP for the JNU act, and she also tweeted against the entire B'wood calling them rapists and underworld people. check her accnt.

Too much excited to watch this movie. Watch chhapaak movie online. Dil kyun mera break kare. Plz react QUEEN web series 's biopic of Chief minister of tamilnadu india. Watched the movie without watching any review for the cause of JNU. and felt the same as Anupama. the flip flop makes the emotion unfelt. The last scene is horrifying though. and gives a complete picture of what's going on in our Great Bharat. The BJP supporters allegations on twitter that the names were changed to Hindu names is completely false. I request all the ABVP people to watch this movie as it is made especially for their mindsets.
