Trading his life as a spy, Corey enters the world of domestic bliss, a steady 9-5, weekly trips to the hardware store, and lots of talk of having friends over. As the honeymoon phase is coming to an end, Coreys old partner, Blake Anderson (Workaholics) comes to him with an offer to capture the villain who got away. Corey must choose between saving the world and saving his marriage. If he isnt too rusty, maybe he can do both. Rounding out the cast are Brittany Furlan (We Are Your Friends) Max Silvestri (Table 19) Natasha Bassett (Hail, Caesar. Brian Sacca (The Wolf of Wall Street) Dave Sheridan (Scary Movie) and Lane Garrison (Shooter. Spy Intervention will be available on major VOD platforms starting Valentines Day. Producer Sunil Perkash (Salt, Enchanted) isnt a stranger to big-budget films where money can solve most of the problems that come up during production. Perkash and first-time feature-length Director Mylrea didnt have that luxury or that burden on this film. When the amount of money dedicated to a project increases, so do the expectations. Not just about how well it will perform at the box office but how the film will look. Nothing but the latest and greatest special effects are expected for a 250-million-dollar movie like James Bonds latest outing?No Time to Die. When the team set out to design the look of?Spy Intervention, they knew they would have a modest budget, and they wanted to have a plan. The settled on blending the modern with the classic in every aspect from set design to cinematography. The sets and props of the spy world are obvious fakes, but the way they are presented and how the cast interacts with them is the crucial factor. The actors all treat it like it is perfectly natural, and they are not played directly for laughs. Sure, when it looks like they are on the set of a play, using an obvious miniature or you swear the strings are still attached, it can be humorous. Still, it can also pull at the nostalgia strings tied to your affection for spy films of the 60s. The most significant change from Coreys ordinary life to his spy mission is the aspect ratio that it is presented. Coreys home life is shown in standard 16:9 ratio, which will fit your widescreen tv perfectly. His missions, however, are shown in 4:3, cutting off the edges like TV in the 80s and 90s. Mylrea and cinematographer Danny Grunes also played with the lighting and coloring of scenes for a little added flair. In a romantic spy comedy keeping the right tone falls heavily on the shoulders of the cast. Avy Kaufman was in charge of casting and was especially successful with the addition of Poppy Delevingne. Though she may not be as well known as her younger sister Cara, Poppy may be the superior actor. Poppy handles the comedic scenes well but excels in the films dramatic moments. You believe in the fear, anger, and self-doubt that she experiences as she begins to question Coreys recent behavior. Drew Van Acker is probably best known for his role on the CW show Pretty Little Liars, which isnt always known for stretching your acting ability. While he may not be as good as Poppy, he does handle himself well. Drew projects the image of a secret agent who would be more at home in the world of?Kingsman?with their attitude and comedic bend than he would be working with James Bond. Drew was at his best when he was sharing the screen with Poppy, which I good because it is the central relationship, but it does take away a bit from the spy scenes. Natasha Bassett, who plays Coreys spy wife Alexandria, brought energy and a lot of charisma to her scenes that wanted more of every time she was off-screen. Drew Mylrea, along with writers Mark Famiglietti and Lane Garrison, did an excellent job walking the tightrope between heartfelt romantic story and a spy-themed action-comedy. While watching, you cant help to compare it to movies like?True Lies?or?This Means War, and while it may not have the budget of either of those projects, it does have heart, and it does have character. While it may not reach the peaks of?True?Lies, there are good odds that those who see?Spy Intervention?will want to introduce their friends and family to it, and it wont be quickly forgotten.

Free movie spy intervention guide. By: Mary Watkins What happens when a spy meets a girl and falls in love? Well, Spy Intervention is a comedy that answers this question…Sort of. This is a spy comedy starring Drew Van Acker and Poppy Delevingne where a spy falls in love with a normal girl and decides that he wants to retire and live a normal boring life with her. He settles into a normal job and lives in a home with a white picket fence. However, reality is way more different then his dream and normal kind of sucks. So, what do you do to make this story line better? You turn it into a comedy. I mean who doesnt love a good spy comedy? However, sadly, this is not it. The movie starts out with Corey (Drew Van Acker) jumping out of a plane while on a mission with his best friend and partner Smuts (Blake Anderson. Corey flies through the air with a jet pack and the two make idle conversation. Corey lands on roof and then rushes into a mall where he ends up running over a makeup sales girl named Pam (Poppy Delevingne. He apologizes and she comes back with a snarky remark that catches his attention. They begin to talk all while Smuts is in Coreys ear trying to remind him of the mission he is currently on. Finally, Corey snaps out of it and continues his mission. So far so good, but then the next thing we see is Corey and Pam on a date. No mention of how long they had been talking, when they started talking, if that is the first date or anything. There is no storyline leading up to this date. Next, they are watching TV, wearing matching hockey jerseys and Corey is telling Smuts that he is going to marry her. Again, no storyline building up to that. Corey does some kind of drill procedure to his head which I thought was supposed to make him forget he was a spy, while Smuts is trying to convince him not to do. Then, all of a sudden Corey and Pam are married, he works for a cardboard box company and is living an average life. The next thirty or so minutes are Corey and Pam doing mundane things like shopping for lighting and home improvement material. Pam is talking to her best friend Brianna (Brittany Furlan) about her marriage and Corey is talking to Smuts about his marriage and being a spy. When we see that Corey is talking to Smuts about their last mission, they did thats when we figure out the drill thing didnt do anything to his memory, so I am not sure what the point of that was. Smuts convinces Corey to come back for one more mission and Corey spends the rest of the movie trying to keep it under wraps so his wife doesnt find out. Pam thinks he is cheating and follows him to a hotel where she sees Corey with another woman. The other woman is a spy but Pam thinks she is a mistress. A small confrontation is had and the next scene is Pam planning for a dinner party which makes no sense. There is also a weird dance scene with Pam, Corey, the dinner guests and the bad guys. Additionally, we get a fight scene, a breakup, a new relationship, a hookup, a new job and a lot more occurring within the last fifteen minutes of the movie that you have to see to find out about. As far as the performances in this movie, they are over the top and silly. The acting is too outrageous even for a comedy. The performances remind me of the acting in the Scary Movie films as they make no sense, are over the top, exaggerated and unnecessary. Drew Van Acker is the only one that makes the comedy feel a little less crazy and dramatic. In regards to the film and the cinematography, it could also use improvement. You can tell the movie was a low budget as there are scenes with airplanes that look like they took a toy plane or even that they filmed the person on a green scene and then inserted them into the window of the plane. However, the direction of the movie was well done. You can tell the director Drew Mylrea gave clear direction to his actors and did his best to make the comedy as funny as possible. Even the random, weird, break out dance numbers were executed with meaning. Overall, my opinion of this movie was not the best. The storyline and idea of the movie is a good one and the film has potential to be a good spy comedy with a little better writing, bigger budget and less dramatic acting. It feels like they worked too hard on trying to sell the story that it ended up just making the whole thing unbearable. The comedy that was intended to be funny wasnt funny at all while the moments that werent supposed to be funny were. Plus, the whole production of the film left me wanting to know what I had just watched. I will say this much though, the best part of the movie was the ending. The ending is probably the one main thing I would not change at all. So, if you are curious as to how the movie ends then you will have to watch and find out, even though I suggest you dont.
