Waiting for anya movie cast. Waiting for Anya movie. So, I just finished the Season and thought I would try writing down some of my thoughts about it, while it's still fresh in my mind. First of, I'm a bit unsure about this Season. There where a lot of scenes and things I liked, while there where also some things that bothered me. Some because they were differences to the books that I thought were for the worse, and I think those might not necessarily bother people who don't know the books, so they're not inherently bad. But there were also some things that I thought were straight up not handled very well, without even regarding the book versions. All in all, this season by far isn't perfect, but it's definitely not bad either and shows a lot of potential. So, stuff I liked. I think most of the actors were well casted and did at least a decent job. Especially Anya Chalotra as Yennefer was a very good choice. She really impressed me most of the time, even though I think the script gave her too few opportunities to be full on bitch-mode Yen like in The Last Wish or in Bounds of Reason. Show-Yen overall felt a lot more vulnerable then Book-Yen. Henry Cavill did an atleast decent job as Geralt. He embodied the laconic, sometimes even fatalistic nature of Geralt very well, but some of his moments felt a bit... overacted? Especially in scenes where he got angry sometimes felt a bit weird. I liked Freya Allan as Ciri, and thought she came of the perfect mixture of naive, scared and tough. It's easy to see Ciri become more forward and active later on. Most other cast members were also good to great, especially Jaskier (talk about a perfect casting), Calanthe and Mousesack. Music was good overall, a bit reminiscent of The Witcher 3's Soundtrack though different enough to be its own thing. Still, I don't think it was very memorable, except maybe "Toss a coin to your witcher", that song will probably be stuck in my head for the next few days. The action was mostly okay, though sometimes confusing when the scale was larger - so, the battles at Marnadal, Cintra and most of all, Sodden. But Geralts fight scenes mostly made up for it, especially the fight in Blaviken (probably best swordfighting I've so far seen in fantasy movies/shows) and the Striga. Locations where also mostly good, though some either just weren't my taste (Aretuza was too... I don't know. Square? ) or weird (whatever they did to Vyzima). Effects were mostly okay, or at least not terrible. I thought Villentretenmerth looked fake as shit and was also very strangely designed (Why? Why him? ). Also, sometimes I felt like the camera was weirdly out of fokus, and the blurry edges gave it a bit of a cheap look sometimes. The big problem with this season, in my opinion, lies in its story, and I believe that stems largely from the fact that they wanted to adapt the short stories from the first two books (well, some of them at least), while at the same time already beginning the story of the main saga and giving all three main characters at least some screentime in every episode (except Yen in the first one, iirc). There are two general problems with this approach, and I think both show in this season. Firstly, many of the short stories obviously take place at least some to a lot of time before the events of the main saga, beginning with the Fall of Cintra. This lead to the rather confusing timeline of the show - it's relatively easy to follow with knowledge of the books, and they drop some hints as to what the timeline is (such as young Foltest and Adda showing up at the Ball in Aretuza while Foltest is an older adult in Geralts part of this episode), but overall I think it's needlessly confusing. It also lead to some weird scene transitions - in one scene, Geralt is still fucking around, hunting dragons and stuff, while in the next scene, Ciri is on the run and looking for Geralt, even though his story hasn't caught up with hers by far. I don't know if it wouldn't have been the lesser evil (see what I did there? Wink. ) to wait introducing Ciri and the Cintra Plot until the second half of the season. Secondly, most of adapted stories don't really have a connection to this "Main Plot", safe for recurring characters like Jaskier and Yennefer and some thematic connections. They tried to connect it all a bit by having characters talk about destiny all the time (like Renfri and Borch), and even though I didn't hate it, it still felt a bit clumsy. Also, trying to have all three character's storylines run parallel for the whole season lead to some stories feeling incredibly rushed - but I'm getting to that a bit later. Like every adaptation out there, this show deviated quite a bit from its source material - which isn't inherently bad. I think some choices they made were good, some I could at least understand why they felt they had to change it that way, while others felt really, really detrimental. But I'd like to discuss those as part of kind of a review for each episode. And looking at how long this post already is, I think I'll save that for two or three other posts. In conclusion: This first season was an overall okay start - nothing more, nothing less. I'm neither completely satisfied nor completely disappointed with it. I'd like to see more, hoping they improve some things over the following seasons (I'm optimistic, because the books of the main saga should in theory be a bit easier to adapt). Let's say... 7/10.

Waiting for Anya. Those movies are always so heart breaking! Im from Germany and when I hear the stories of my grandparents they all went through shit on every side. War and hate is so horrible! There is one story though that has touched me the most. A girl from my school. Every school visits the concentration camps. When she was there an old man told his story of how he had survived the holocaust. She broke down in tears ( a lot did) but then she continued to tell him the story of her great grandmother. She said that her great grandmother was being deported to a camp by train. She was pregnant. She gave birth on the train. A German soldier was there. He took the baby and hid it. She went off to Die in the camp but that soldier managed to smuggle the baby out and he and his wife raised it as their own.
