1917 was mind-blowing. Probably the best amongst all the single cut movies. I'm honestly baffled why George Mackay wasn't nominated for a best actor Oscar, he had so much to consider while performing, having to be in the exact right place for the camera, remembering some long lines, when he has to make a certain movement etc, not to mention the final act when he is being smashed over by loads of extras and gets up everytime, and manages to continue his incredible performance. He was bloody incredible.

Through a series of extended shots made to look like one continuous take, we follow (without breathers) Lance Corporal Blake and Schofield through a visceral and relentless journey during WWI. In addition to top notch direction, set design and music, I'm left with just two words: Roger. Deakins. The man is simply the greatest cinematographer to have ever lived and here he captures nothing short of technical brilliance. The man deserves b2b Oscars for this masterpiece.

Wait when did the rest of the 1916 movies came out? I've never seen any of them before. It's funny to think that it took Roger Deakins so long to win an Oscar, and now he's probably gonna win two in the space of two years. Thomas Newman scored this film impeccably, that man really makes you feel the weight of a situation with his music, best composer out there.

About 2 Million U.S. service members served, and over 110,000 died, most from May through November of '18. Absolutely incredible movie. Definitely in my top 5 of 2019.
This might be the best movie I've seen this year. Definitely need to see this on the big screen. Overall it's a very sad pointless brave thing war is. This film is simply beautiful shot, incredibly composed, fantastical directed and will be seen as one of the greatest war films of all time. Download 1917 hd. I have nothing further to add, other than the compelling need for eternal remembrance to those who sacrificed their lives in any way, we can not fathom. We, citizens of any country, today, should feel ourselves lucky and blessed to exist. A Happy New Year to all. George from Hellas. NB: do not give it a second thought; watch it; even if this genre is not your cup of tea. After all, it is much more than a feature film. It's a massive dedication to unselfishness. Do yourself a favour and watch it. And then watch it once more.

Have it about turning at Universal classic Masters into animated movies like anime. Let's start with saying i have never been war movie fan. Closest i have come to these was "Saving Private Ryan. I guess the reason is, i hate war, with passion. It's waste of life, waste of time, waste of everything. But that's exactly what this movie shows. How brutal it is. Wonderfully directed, well acted, with amazing original score.
