I am the most unqualified person to write a screenplay or a film treatment. But I wanted to see if it is possible for me to come up with an actual plan that yields a better outcome then the unorganized and fandom dividing mess that is the Disney ST.. I enjoy lots of the Disney “canon”. However it’s all from the PT era of OT era. Never the ST era. Why? Because the PT and OT had George Lucas’s influence, and an actual fleshed our world and story already. Each of those trilogies had a purpose. One was the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker, the other was the defeat of the Empire and return of the Jedi after Anakin’s redemption. The ST doesn’t have that. If anything it’s a middle finger to the OT and then later a middle finger to itself. I always ask myself why they didn’t just lock important people in a boardroom, and bang out the story. I’m not asking for Marvel Studios level of planning. Just a basic outlining and point form guidelines to what this three film story is and who these characters are and why they matter. Who are these players in the boardroom? Kathleen Kennedy, JJ and Kasdan, George Lucas, a story group representative, and one or two major Legends authors like Timothy Zahn. Then everyone throws out their ideas, discusses them, what is important about them, figure out what does and doesn’t work. To simulate this boardroom, I made categories and listed major ideas from what we know of George’s script, JJ and Kasdan’s main ideas, and some characters and big ideas from Legends. You can read that scribbled mess here. After that I took maybe a day total to write up this summary of Episode VII (title in the works). I am now curious what other fans think and since this is fairly rough and doesn’t have a tone of specifics or description, what other stuff fans might suggest I add to it! If people are interested I might take a crack at turning this into an actual script. EPISODE VII STORY BEATS OPENING CRAWL Luke Skywalker has vanished. In his absence, the NEW REPUBLIC continues to dismiss the possibility of IMPERIAL REMNANT involvement in suspicious activity, across Outer Rim worlds. The NEW JEDI ORDER continues in Luke’s absence, as their representative, Ambassador Leia Organa, tries to reason with THE GALACTIC SENATE. She is desperate to find her brother Luke and gain his help in maintaining peace and justice to the galaxy. Leia has sent her son and nephew on a secret mission to an abandoned Jedi outpost once overrun by separatists during the CLONE WAR, to try and find a clue to Luke’s whereabouts….. OPENING Film starts with Kaden Solo and Ben Skywalker breaking into a Clone Wars era Jedi outpost once taken by the separatists on a Outer Rim world. They trigger some droids and have to fight them off. They are trying to find information on where Luke Skywalker has gone. They don’t come away with that information, but they do get a lead. A name of some sort that Ben remembers from their Jedi archives. So they make their way back, but they get a transmission from Leia and she wishes for them to visit Coruscant before they go back, because she misses them dearly and she wants updates on her brother. Before going into hyperspace they notice something come up on the raider and then disappear quickly. They go to Coruscant as requested. THE WORLD AROUND US (set-up) We pick up with the ship they saw coming out of hyperspace, and the camera turns to reveal an Imperial Dreadnought. It’s in the UR, and this the Imperial Remnant. The scout goes to report to a council of Imperial officials, and the scout reports Jedi being sighted close by. They talk about how the NR is vulnerable as they don’t expect anything, but if they wait too long the Jedi could discover them. Others argue they are too small to launch a proper attack. They have been fine with terrorist movements, but it’s not enough to take back the galaxy. Then the seeming head of this council, General Baron Soontir Fel, says their fortunes seem to have changed. Then he makes a motion at a door, and it’s opened to reveal an alien (similar to the Yuuzhan Vong). The council seem shocked, and a TIE pilot standing by Soontir Fel removes his helmet. This is Jag Fel. Leia is the Senator representing the Jedi Order (though she is considering stepping down as ambassador to run for Chancellor). The senate is in session and she is urging the senate to look into the disturbances, but they assure her the imperial remnant is long gone and whatever might be left in the UR is far too small to dare venture into NR territory. They denounce the activity as cartel gangs that local authority will soon take care of. The session soon comes to an end. Leia is exhausted after this and goes to the Jedi Embassy where Han(retired General and New Republic Academy instructor), her son, and her nephew are waiting. They sit and discuss Luke. They think he might be at the first Jedi temple, but they don’t know where it is. Ben thinks what they found might be a lead. Leia asks if they found anything else suspicious and Kaden brings up the blip on the raider. Kaden volunteers to scout the area they were just at again, while Ben goes to the temple. They need to figure out what the Imperial Remnant is up to. PROTAGONIST INTRODUCTION Kira is introduced in her element, scavenging on a planet called Jakku. It’s landscape is a mix of desert hills and swampy rivers and lakes, outlines with small patches of grass. Large crashed Star Destroyers and X-wings litter the earth. This is where the Empire fell. Kira jumps around and collects pieces. But she gets herself caught in a tight situation. She panics briefly, but she hears a whisper voice, and is guided to raise her hand and she uses to force to get out of the situation. Then she hurries on her way, and goes to the nearest settlement. CHARACTER TRAITS There she tries to sell some parts but can only get a small amount, she is disappoints but takes it to a place where an old man named Lorr San Tekka lives. She prepares the food for him and then they eat in silence. Afterward he has her sit cross legged and meditate. He tells her she must concentrate to understand, to remember. She goes into a trance and has a vision. Various things show up, she touches Kaden’s face at one point, then she’s witnessing an attack and dark figures walking through flame, then she sees a old man tormented crouched with his head in his hands. The scenes keep changing and she can’t handle it so she wakes up. She says it doesn’t work again, and he tells her it will only work if she is truly ready for the truth. He asks her why she isn’t ready, and she looks back at him before leaving to say she’s scared. She then goes to clean off some other parts so she can sell those too. CATALYST Ben Skywalker gets back to the Jedi temple, and hurries to the archives. He starts searching for the name he recognized (Ach-To), and finds it under a list of missions his mother went on. He is wistful for a moment, but hurries to look deeper. The file doesn’t contain public information, but defences a holocron. So he goes to his mothers holocrons and finds one that hasn’t been used in years. He opens it and he sees his mother. She talks about a mission to a planet that revealed lots of secrets about the Force, and then at the end says she believes it to be the First Jedi Temple. He hurried to download the info onto a chip, but on his way out he gets a transmission from Kaden. He’s under attack and it’s the Imperial Remnant, but they aren’t alone. The message is cut off so Ben hurries to get his droid BB8 and contacts his uncle. When he gets out of hyperspace he is faced by Imperial ships and is shot at and eventually captured. He wakes up in interrogation, and he is tortured as the Imperials who want to know where Luke Skywalker is and where the Jedi temple is. Ben refuses but when they tell him they have killed his cousin, that is enough to weaken him so he can be tortured into telling them. He mentions the droid has the route to Luke Skywalker, and he tells them what planet Luke’s temple is on. Jag Fel is watching this from above with his father, and he hears his father say that once they know where the Jedi are, they will be able to take them out and assist the [insert alien race name] to take over the galaxy. Jag then takes leave. He looks in turmoil and chooses to interfere. He gets to the droid first and after a comedic argument between the two, he convinces BB8 that he is gonna free Ben. Jag manages to do this, and they make a daring escape. But they get shot down and crash on the nearest Outer Rim world: Jakku. They get out and Jag says they have to hurry because they will be followed. They need to find a new ship. They get into down and Lorr San Tekka is exiting his hut to adjust some make shift windows. He sees the two males and the droid, and with a knowing look ushers them over. Kira is walking in that direction with some more rations, and is confused and worried seeing these suspicious people entering Lorr’s home. Then suddenly she looks up to see ships entering the atmosphere and soon lasers are being fired at the settlement. An impact throws her back and knocks her temporarily unconscious. When she comes to, she sees stormtroopers in the distance and forces herself to crawl to Lorr’s home. She gets inside and the suspicious people are gone, but Lorr is hurt on the floor. She goes to him and is clearly teary eyed. He tells her he is sorry he couldn’t help her remember sooner, that he would have told her the truth only he knew she would never truly understand unless she remembered for herself. He tells her that to find the key to her past, she must find the falcon. He then tells her to follow the young men through a secret tunnel in his hut, so she will be safe. And to give them “this”. He then opens a box he was clutching and pulls out the Skywalker saber. He says they will trust her if she has this. So she goes into the tunnel, he closes it and kee

As I was a bit dissapointed from Bellocchio's latest works I didn't expect to see a great movie, but in the end I was amazed both from the direction and the plot line. Some scenes of the movie are a real masterpiece and although it lasts 2,5 hours you don't get tired or bored. Outstanding acting by Pierfrancesco Favino, he's perfect on his role.
