È incredibile ascoltare Buscetta. ? uno lo sa che è stato un criminale, un assassino, un mafioso, eppure senti la convinzione di quello che diceva e di come lo dicevi e rimani allibito. e capisci la differenza tra etica e morale... The Traitor has wasted a series of really big opportunities, despite taking two and half very long hours of the viewers' time (definitely too much for the results it achieves. The Traitor could have been the opportunity to explore in depth the complex and controversial personality of Tommaso Buscetta but the movie barely scratches the surface of this multifaceted character. It could have been the opportunity to dig into the overall role of the "pentiti" of the mafia, the former "men of honour" turned into witnesses for the state; this was a very controversial, ambiguous and surely humanly difficult choice for those people yet again the movie misses its chance. It could have been the opportunity to offer a deep look into a dramatic moment of the contemporary history of the Italian mafia, the bloody 80' and 90's, but these events are presented in a rather fragmented, disjointed manner, bordering sometimes the caricature (like the trial scenes. The one thing to be saved of the movie is Favino's performance, really stunning.

Onore e merito a Buscetta per l'apporto determinante che ha dato svelando i suoi segreti e. Spiegando cosa è il fenomeno mafioso. Detto doverosamente questo, ho malcelato sospetto che Buscetta, si ha parlato ma lo ha fatto dopo un freddo calcolo di convenienza. Lui ormai sconfitto dai corleonesi, non ci stava propio a perdere la guerra contro i corleonesi. Ed in maniera scientifica ha calcolato la possibilità di usare lo stato per sconfiggere il suo nemico. Gran bel film, però credo siamo già abbastanza saturi di tutto questo mitizzare la gente di mafia. Tra film, serie tv, documentari, ecc, non si fa altro che fare di gentaccia schifosa eroi per individui senza etica e di scarso intelletto, appartenenti a qualsiasi categoria sociale. La mafia si combatte nelle strade e negli uffici pubblici e privati, non facendoci i film per ricevere premi da gente che di queste realtà non fregherà veramente mai nulla, se non quando c'è da farci soldi.
