This movie is definitely flawed, but I enjoyed it. I am totally understand the criticisms of the movie not being "entertaining, but just because something is bleak doesn't mean it's boring. I liked this story better than that of the 2004 version. It made much more sense, and it justified the characters' decisions (such as why anyone would continue to live in the house after seeing the ghosts. Quite a few of the jump scares got me. A couple got me particularly good. A few are duds, but they didn't bother me too much. The acting is pretty great all around, and I had some fun with Jacki Weaver's character. The movie felt mean-spirited, but that's not exactly a novelty for the franchise. The gore was very well-done and tasteful (IMO. A few of the more gruesome bits made me squirm. I appreciated the ways this one clicked into the continuity of the 2004 version, and the slight expansions on the mythology were cool to me. While I wish this was set in the present, I understand the 2004-2006 setting. I thought the use of the number "4" was a pretty cool motif, as this is essentially The Grudge 4.

Creepiest scene was the shower; when the ghost hand came out of the woman's skull ?. Not sure what I just watched. I spent the entire film waiting for something to happen and after what felt like 48 hours of sheer torture, the ending credits appeared on the screen. Immediately following this I knew I wasn't the only one in the theater who was baffled by this film after one individual immediately yelled out "Oh Hell Naw. br> The timeline is an unnecessary and nonsensical crap There is no character development. There is no feel of investment in any of these characters. I'm not saying that the acting is bad. It's just that the characters are uninteresting. Honestly, I seen this movie an hour ago and can't remember one character's name. Jump scares are predictable and already done. If you sit through this movie waiting for something to happen, make sure to bring a seat cushion because you're going to die in that seat. This movie is highly recommended for those who suffer from insomnia. I spent the entire movie wondering if anything would happen. Spoiler Alert, nothing happened. My writing resembles the timeline of the movie, all of the place and repulsive.“Im not your sister Sadie” Weird way to say that, but thanks for telling us who Sadie is. Sigh. Hollywood is lost.
