Seen a lot of war movie filming was great, could been better. This movie was just great! I also like the consistency as well it felt as if the movie had no cuts what so ever. One of the best parts of the film for me was around 1:50 in the trailer as the German first relaxes then charges after realising its an englander. So rare nowadays to watch a movie that has good actors and a good script. Sometimes I think that one out of ten movies is worth watching. 1917 is really really good and. MUUUULAAAAANNNN. I've watched the animation AT LEAST a hundred times??? I was literally screaming when I saw the trailer. Got goosebumps even ???. The extended version of this film will include a few hours of a dark screen from when Scho passed out.

The cinematography and sets were unbelievable. Go see it just for that. But the entire film was fabulous. Uskomaton tekninen suoritus ja ennen kaikkea vahva sotadraama, joka todennäköisesti nappaa ainakin muutaman Oscarin. Taistelulähetit ? 1917 herätti ennakkoon mielenkiintoa jo rakenteeltaan. Sam Mendesin ohjaama ensimmäiseen maailmansotaan sijoittuva sotaelokuva ei pelkästään etene reaaliajassa, vaan se on ikään kuin kuvattu yhdellä yhtäjaksoisella otolla. Todellisuudessa elokuvassa on leikkauksia, mutta ne on tehty niin taitavasti, että niitä ei huomaa. Kamera näyttää pysyvän jatkuvassa liikkeessä koko elokuvan kaksituntisen keston ajan. Elokuvan alkuperäinen nimi on pelkkä 1917, mikä Suomessa saattaisi herättää mielleyhtymiä muuallekin kuin ensimmäiseen maailmansotaan, joten siihen on eteen lisätty Taistelulähetit. Suomalainen nimi toimii ainakin siinä mielessä, että elokuvan keskiössä on kaksi taistelulähettiä, joiden tarinaa lähdetään seuraamaan heti ensimmäisestä kuvasta alkaen. On vuoden 1917 kevät Pohjois-Ranskan rintamalla. Nuoret brittiarmeijan korpraalit Blake ( Dean-Charles Chapman) ja Schofield ( George MacKay) saavat erikoistehtävän. Heidän on vietävä varoitusviesti toiselle brittipataljoonalle. Saksalaiset suunnittelevat väijytystä, ja 1600 brittisotilasta on astumassa ansaan. Esimerkiksi kohtaus, jossa vihollisen alas ammuttu hävittäjä syöksyy lähes Blaken ja Schofieldin päälle, jää vahvasti mieleen. Mestarikuvaaja Roger Deakinsin kuvaama elokuva on visuaalisesti upea, ja kuvasto vaihtelee kiehtovasti. Nyt ei ole käytetty pelkkää yhtä väripalettia, vaan kirkkaasta päivänvalosta ja vihreistä niityistä siirrytään keskelle ruumiiden täyttämää mutaista maastoa, ja sieltä edelleen pimeisiin raunioihin, ennen kuin päästään määränpäähän. 1917 on nostettu joissain arvioissa jopa Pelastakaa sotamies Ryanin ja Kunnian polkujen kaltaisten sotaelokuvan mestariteosten joukkoon. Vaikka 1917 ei ihan niin korkealle nousekaan, on se sodan julmuuden ja traagisuuden kuvauksessa todella järisyttävä. Brittiläinen Sam Mendes on luonut ohjaajana kiinnostavan uran, jonka aikana on tullut sekä Oscar-palkinto parhaasta ohjauksesta ( American Beauty) että Bond-elokuvien kaltaisia kaupallisia menestyksiä ( Skyfall, Spectre.
