Currently, Heroes of the Storm has no official support for Japanese.
Since not many Japanese are proficient enough unlike countries in Europe or Oceania, this means the game is suffering from very large language barrier.
Especially, games like MOBA genre are very text-intensive like description of ability or upgrades. This makes the barrier even larger.
HotS has heavy emphasis on team composition or team fighting. Understanding each heroes or communicating among the team has more important than other the genre.
There already are players in Japan (of course, the following is smaller compared to other regions). Official Japanese release makes the state of game even better not only for them, but also interested new players.
As a player who have enjoyed Japanese versions of Overwatch, Hearthstone or Starcraft, myself also hoping for Japanese support of HotS! More than that, I love the game in the first place. I will be so happy if it happens!
From the early days of the game, there were some Japanese communities existed in the environment without any Japanese support. Eventually, us, the community started to hold HotS Gathering (HotS交流会) on Twitch.tv and organized HotS_jpn, to bring Japanese players together and make friends or letting experienced player to teach new players.
HotS Gathering is a free-to-join Custom Games event for players like newcomers or who are looking for friends, held every Saturdays 9:00 PM JST.
We have our Twitch.tv channel and holding events to make more friends and casting tournaments to viewers to enjoy the game to the full extent.

As an E-Sports, community eventually grew a demand for an in-house competitive tournament. There were no HGC preliminaries available for Japanese back then, we started to think about it.
As the community grows to hundreds and more players joining the Gathering, we have held the HotS Koshien (HotS甲子園) (named after the stadium where the finals of national high school baseball tournament is held) tournament.
This tournament is currently suspended due to lack of number of players and significant difference in team power levels. Instead, we have HotS Arena (HotS闘技場) now.
This tournament allows individual entries and the organizers divides the players to the team to make sure each team’s MMR average are similar.
After 2 weeks of practise period, the round robin matches decides the standings.
Through HotS Arena, we advocate diverse enjoyment in coordinating and practicing with team or competing against similarly trained team, similar to joining Heroes XD or HGC Open Division, not just playing in Quick Matches or Ranked Matches.
We have been hearing a few Japanese team being established and happy to see our activites are spreading.
If we get the Japanese release, we will definitely have more Japanese players. Overwatch or Hearthstone are popular E-Sports title and the exact reason must be having a decent Japanese support.
Not only that, HotS_jpn is holding an offline event HotS Meeting (HotS会) with Hearthstone event organizer BeerBrick.
We have invited many actual pro players at HotS Meeting in November 11th, 2018!

We are doing our best to advocate the appeal of HotS and setting the stage for players to enjoy the game as long as they can.
