忘却からの帰還〜Atomic Age

2000年前のインドの寺院に自転車の彫刻があるという写真が広まったが、それはインドネシアの寺院ものだった。

India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found that the viral photo is not from the said Tamil Nadu temple. In fact, it is not from India, but a temple in Indonesia.

India Today紙のフェイクニュースウォールームは、流行の写真が、Tamil Naduの寺院のものではないことを発見した。実際、これはインドではなく、インドネシアの寺院のものだ。

そして、自転車のように見える彫刻は実際に自転車で、おそらく1904年の作品。

One of the most intriguing temples in north Bali, Pura Maduwe Karang is particularly notable for its sculptured panels, including the famous stone-carved bicycle relief that depicts a gentleman riding a bicycle with a lotus flower serving as the back wheel. It's on the base of the main plinth in the inner enclosure. The cyclist may be WOJ Nieuwenkamp, a Dutch artist who, in 1904, brought what was probably the first bicycle to Bali.

バリ島北部で最も魅力的な寺院の1つであるPura Maduwe Karanghaは、蓮の花を後輪として自転車に乗る紳士を描いた有名な石彫りの自転車レリーフなど、彫刻が施された羽目板で特に有名である。内側の囲みのメイン台座の基礎の上に置かれている。サイクリストは、1904年におそらく最初の自転車をバリに持ち込んだオランダの芸術家WOJ Nieuwenkampと思われる。

2000年前のインドの寺院に自転車のレリーフが見つかった。こっちは本当にインドの寺院。

A carving of a modern bicycle has been found on the wall of an ancient 2,000-year-old temple. The founders of Panchavarnaswamy Temple, which was built during India's ancient Chola period, may have predicted the arrival of the bike by hundreds of years if these images are correct.

2000年前の古代寺院の壁に、現代の自転車の彫刻が発見された。インドの古代チョーラ朝の時代に建てられたパンPanchavarnaswamy寺院の創設者は、これらの画像が正しければ、自転車の到着を数百年前に予測していたかもしれない。



Opthalmologist and amateur historian Dr R Kalaikovan ... told The Hindu in 2015 following a tour of the temple: "Neither the officials nor the scholar who wrote its history were able to explain how it (the carving) came there." Research led the doctor to discover the temple was renovated in the 1920s when bicycles were mass market products. Dr Kalaikovan said: "Perhaps the sculptor had seen someone on a cycle, was impressed by it and had recorded it forever on stone."

眼科医でアマチュアの歴史家であるDr. R. Kalaikovanは、寺院を見学した後、2015年にThe Hinduに次のように語った。「調査の結果、医師は、自転車がマスマーケットの製品であった1920年代に寺院が改装されたことを発見した。おそらく、彫刻家は自転車で誰かを見て、それに感銘を受け、それを永遠に石に記録したのだろう」と語った。

人々が自転車の乗り始めた1920年代の改装時に追加されものらしい。
