忘却からの帰還〜Atomic Age

Protect and Surviveは20本の短編公共情報動画としてテレビ版が制作された。これらの動画は、 Charley Sayschild safety動画やCrystal Tipps and Alistair children's cartoon series動画で知られる、Richard Taylor Cartoonsが制作にあたり、ナレーションはPatrick Allenが担当した。動画はブックレットと同様の内容だが、より詳しめであり、同じインストラクションが音声ナレーションや効果音や単純なアニメーションで提示されている。各動画は特徴的な電子音で終わる。

このシリーズは、政府が72時間以内に核攻撃を受ける可能性が高いと判断した場合にのみ、全チャネルで放送されることになっていた。ただし、動画はCNDのような機関や、BBCのような報道機関には、予め提供されていた。

この「家にとどまれ」は、都市住民を都市に留まらせ、攻撃をまぬかれた地域の負担を軽減することを狙ったもの。実際、1978年の民間防衛机上演習Scram Halfでは、ロンドンからの被爆難民をゾンビと呼び、救援しないことを想定していた。

Threads (1984)では、核戦争が迫る英国にProtect and Surviveテレビ放送が流れる。このとき、「3. What To Do When the Warnings Sound」の前に、次のナレーションが流れる。

The time has now come to make everything ready for you and your family in case an air attack happens. This does not mean that war is about to come, but there is a risk of it, and we must all be prepared.

攻撃が起きたときに、あなたと家族を守る、あらゆる準備をするときがきました。これが戦争が起ころうとしていることを意味するわけではありません。しかし、そのリスクがあります。我々全員が備えをしておかなければなりません。

これは「8. Make Your Fall-out Room and Refuge Now」の最初にあるナレーションである。

また、著作権などを理由に非公開であるラジオバージョンも引用されている。このラジオバージョンは、内容も少し違っており、ナレーションはもPatrick Allenではなく、男女の声だった。
