放送終了後、ファン層の中でも大きな分母を持つ「ヴィク勇民」、その中でも主人公勝生勇利の過激なファンが原案者のインタビューに怒る。
"Viku-Yu(Victor×Yuri)freak" which has a large denominator in the fan group, among them the extreme fans of the hero Katsuki Yuri get angry about the original author's interview.
【ファンの解釈】
・アニメの中で勝生勇利がグランプリファイナル後の引退を表明→コーチヴィクトルはFSに臨むユーリ・プリセツキーをハグし勝生勇利が銀メダルとなるよう仕向けた。（勇利が金メダルを取ると引退が確定してしまうため、再び挑戦する気持ちを取り戻すようユーリを利用した・つまり、勇利のためなら裏で手を回すことも厭わないヴィクトル像）

If Yuri Katsuki miss the gold medal, he will not retire. Victor hugged Yuri's rival, Yuri Plisetsky, and asked him to take the gold medal from Yuri Katsuki.

上記のような解釈のズレが頻発し、過激派は原案に対する怒りを募らせていく。
また4月末に行われた『ユーリ!!! on ICE』のイベント「ユーリ!!! on STAGE」パンフレット内でのユーリ・プリセツキーの原案紹介文を曲解し、アニメキャラであるユーリ・プリセツキーへの罵倒も過激さを増していった。

前々から以前に発売されていたプログラム曲集「スケトラ」にユーリのエキシビション曲が入っていたことから尺が足りず実現しなかったユーリのエキシビションプログラムがあるのではないかと言われていた。（原案も本編に入れるはずのユーリのエキシビションが入れられなかったと後の公式ガイドブックインタビューで言っている）実際その通りの結果となったわけだが、特典漫画もエキシビションに纏わるユーリ主人公のものだったため過激派の間で
「制作発表された劇場版は勇利を差し置いてユーリを主人公にするのではないか」
という被害妄想的な憶測が定着するようになった。
（特典に関して、本来なら10話「ロストバンケット」の観光とバンケットのエピソードが入る予定だったが、それが本編に活かされることになったというエピソードは後にPASHファンブックの原案と監督の対談で語られている）
以降グッズや関連本が出るたびに公式関係者や企業に非難のメールやリプライをするようになる。

以前は公式が示した「名前をつけられない愛」を賛美していた過激派だが、一方では「公式はヴィク勇」とガチガチに固定した人間関係を主張していたのであり、その間に横たわるダブスタには全く気づかない様子である。
