今はテラ（地球）とかティロルとかをいがみ合う時ではないでしょう？
今は共に手を携えて苦しい時代を乗り越えなければ、たちまちインビッドに滅ぼされてしまいます。
私の歌が少しでもみんなの心に届いて気付いてくれるように、私はこれからも人々を信じて歌い続けるでしょう！（一部意訳）

カリスマ板野一郎氏が激白、「マクロス」実写映画化に賛成
『ガンガンやってほしい！』
本年度アカデミー賞で作品賞他全４部門ノミネートされた映画「第９地区」。
本作を手掛けたことで、新人とは思えない演出ぶりを絶賛されたニール・ブロンカンプ監督は 日本のカルチャーのファンだと公言している。
実際本編には、人気アニメ「超時空要塞マクロス」での戦闘シーンの演出手法である“板野サーカス”を彷彿とさせるアクションが登場する。
そこで本作のブルーレイ＆DVDリリースを記念して、「マクロス」シリーズのカリスマアニメーター・板野一郎氏に話を伺うことができた。
海外から熱烈に支持されている「マクロス」だが、以前「スパイダーマン」シリーズの「本名：トビアス・ヴィンセント・マグワイア【Tobias Vincent Maguire】（トビー・マグワイア）」主演で実写映画化される話が浮上したことがあった。
ハリウッドで映画化されるかもしれないという件については、
『実写化の噂は知っていた。『マクロス』という作品が好きでその作品の形式を使っていいものをつくってくれる人だったら、ガンガンやってほしい。』
『自分のやってきたことが、新しいクリエーターに少しでもいい影響を与えていたんだ、無駄じゃなかったんだな』という気持ちにさせてくれるので全然反対ではない』
と映画化に向けての動きを快く受け入れている様子。
また板野氏は映画化する際にリクエストがあるようで、
『マクロスを“実写化した”というキャッチコピーだけで終わらせず、“中身あるじゃん、上っ面だけじゃない”というのが今思うことですね。
僕らがつくってきたのは悪い言い方をすると中身がないからアクションで誤魔化していた。
シナリオがいまいちなのを戦闘シーンでカバーしてたりしたので、そうじゃないマクロスをぜひ見たいですね』
と期待を込めてエールを送った。
