創世記6章1-4節の記述にある「sons of God（神の子ら）」と「ネフィリム」

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born unto them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all that they chose. 3 And Jehovah said, My Spirit shall not [a]strive with man for ever, [b]for that he also is flesh: [c]yet shall his days be a hundred and twenty years. 4 The [d]Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them: the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown. さて、地上では人々がますます増えていきました。そのころのことです。霊の世界に住む者たちが、地上に住む美しい女を見そめ、それぞれ気に入った女を妻にしていました。その有様を見て、主は言いました。「わたしの霊が人間のために汚されるのを放っておけない。人間はすっかり悪に染まっている。反省して、正しい道に戻れるように百二十年の猶予を与えよう。（別訳・それで人の齢は百二十年としよう。）」ところで、霊の世界の悪い者たちが人々の女との間に子どもをもうけていたころも、またそののちも、地上にはネフィリムと呼ばれる巨人たちがいました。彼らはたいへんな勇士で、今でもたくさんの伝説に語られています。

ヨベル書とエノク書に従えば、「神の子ら」は堕天使で、「ネフィリム」は堕天使と人間のハーフだが、諸説あり確定していない。この「神の子ら」「ネフィリム」が人間か否かについて、創造論者たちの主張には以下のようなものがある。

若い地球の創造論ミニストリAnswers in Genesisは「神の子」と「ネフィリム」について以下の4案を提示して、4すなわち、いずれも人間というのが適切だと結論している。

古い地球の創造論ミニストリReasons to Believeも同様に案を提示した上で、「神の子ら」も「ネフィリム」も人間だという結論を提示している。

Now, we’ll pull together the information in both Genesis 6 and Numbers 13 to reach a conclusion. Genesis 6:1–4 reveals that parents of Nephilim were strong and oppressive rulers of the people, whose debauchery included rampant, forced polygamy that destroyed the family structure ordained by God. This set a pattern for oppression, polygamy, and general sexual depravity by the Nephilim; they exalted themselves with absolute power over others, including sexual licentiousness. Numbers 13 adds that the Nephilim were strong and warlike, and describes them as giants. They were tyrannical absolute rulers and probably aggressive conquerors.

Such was the character of the “men of renown” mentioned in Genesis 6. With these Nephilim in charge, it is easy to envision an utterly evil and lawless society in which the strong took anything they wanted. Oppression, polygamy, and sexual wantonness were conveyed from the rulers down to secondary administrators, down to lower bureaucrats, and finally down to the people themselves. This answers the question about the extraordinary wickedness of the society led by the Nephilim, which explains why God decided to destroy his creation

さて、創世記6章と民数記13章の両方の情報を総合して結論を出そう。創世記6章1-4節は、ネフィリムの両親が強力で抑圧的な民の支配者であり、その放蕩行為には神が定めた家族構造を破壊する強制的な一夫多妻制の蔓延が含まれていたことを明らかにしている。これは、ネフィリムによる抑圧、一夫多妻制、一般的な性的堕落のパターンを設定した。彼らは、性的放縦を含め、他人に対する絶対的な権力で自分自身を高めた。民数記13章は、ネフィリムが強くて好戦的だったと付け加え、彼らを巨人として描写していまる。彼らは横暴な絶対的支配者であり、おそらく攻撃的な征服者だった。
